Stephanie & Richie tied the knot at La Caille on May 29th, 2011!! This was such a fun Sunday Brunch wedding, with bright colors, yummy mimosas, and beautiful custom florals by Tulips & Thyme. Stephanie's dress was custom-made by Modest Couture by Elizabeth and featured amazing lace and fun bright colored netting under the skirt. Stephanie and her bridal party had makeup and hair done by Array Salon.

The couple is ecstatic about how everything went; even though it was raining, La Caille quickly set up indoors for the ceremony, which turned out beautifully. Congratulations Stephanie, Richie and their families!!

The look for this shoot used large, bright feathers as a bold statement, but Ashlee also can create a look for you that uses smaller and less dramatic feather extensions that are perfect for the every day style...

I've been offering sessions specifically for yoga and fitness instructors. This session with Kimberly Achelis-Hoggan of Authentic Self Yoga was the kick-off to my new promotion for pay-what-you-can Yoga portrait sessions.

Kim needed not only a great yoga portrait session, but a good headshot as well as business cards and online promotional materials. I love to get the chance to do some design, so I made sure to whip up a savvy business card design as well as a Facebook promo!

Micah came to me with reservations about getting his picture taken, just like so many others. As a photographer that works mainly with "new faces" - inexperienced models or actors/actresses - I smile and say that "being photogenic" is a myth. It just takes the right photographer with the right eye and gentle direction to make you stand out... And that is what I do.

Micah expressed that he needed something that showed him as a professional, now graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor's degree, ready to apply to Law schools all over the nation and ready to enter a professional work atmosphere. I told him I could give him that, and make him look like an ad in GQ at the same time.

Micah's headshot session took less than an hour, and with such a versatile on-location environment to work with, we got several great shots that he can use for all kinds of things- from a talent headshot submission to a resume submission.

Angela and Jake confirmed their vows on August 1st! This fun-loving couple certainly have something so special. They held their early morning ceremony and brunch reception at the Mellor Hidden Meadows in Lehi, Utah. Catering by Utah Celebrations was perfect for the occasion providing fresh fruits and vegetables in an immaculate display. The guests were shaded from the summer sun by a beautiful canopy of trees and cooled by colorful smoothies!

Over the years it seems that I have cultivated a unique customer base, made of unique and fun people who love to see the beauty in the world, and want to capture a bright attitude in their own imagery. My latest clients, Jake and Angela, come from Iowa (another couple from out of state!) and drove a very long way to get their engagement portraits. Luckily, the weather was beautiful and the trees had started to let out their leaves. The blossoming spring reflected their love beautifully!

I was asked to design their super-modern invitations, which will be a high-gloss double-sided postcard in full color, featuring matching envelopes and a small card insert.

I'm excited to be a part of their wedding, August 1st this year!

Remember our princess bride? Well here's the destination-wedding couple! Jennifer and Jesse had their beautiful beach-side wedding in St. Lucia and then hosted an elegant reception for family and friends at the the Wight House in Bountiful, Utah.

They kept their laid-back and graceful tropical theme with beautiful orchids, sea shells and a wardrobe of blue and sandy yellow. Pictures of the bride and couple graced every corner. It was truly a memorable event! Congratulations, Jennifer and Jesse!

Ashlee Potter-Raybould of Array Salon masterfully worked hair and makeup for my newest Bride, Jennifer Wade. Jennifer was just married to Jesse Millgate on a beach in Saint Lucia- a beautiful setting for such a beautiful bride!

These bridal portraits were taken at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Wendover, Utah. Since the flats were flooded, the placid water reflected the sky and distant mountains perfectly, and highlighted the gorgeous tones of blue.

We sought to capture Jennifer's sexy glow and the beauty of her anticipated destination wedding. I believe we were very successful!

A few weeks ago I met with the guys of Last the Winter, a great new band here in Salt Lake City. Just getting their foot in the door but serious and determined, this band needed some introductory shots. After our initial meeting we decided to do a few shots on a whim.

This photoshoot was the brainchild of a team of people. Ashlee Potter and Bryan Raybould from the Jagged Edge Salon contributed the vision behind hair and makeup, while the models themselves (Allyson Draper, Kayley Miner and Kaila Houston) styled the wardrobe with inspiration from the past few seasons of Chloe.

After hours of hair, makeup and wardrobe prep, we cleared away a corner inside the historic Salt Lake apartment (thanks Brennon and Andy!) and started snapping away...posing and lighting three models is no easy task!! Thankfully, all three of my wonderful subjects were professional and knew their bodies, so even though every group pose took its time to create, they project the exact mood I needed: passive and unconcerned, but oh-so-cool.

Anays and Josh have been eyeing my work ever since their engagement several months ago... and now all those wedding plans are coming to fruition! They chose a whimsical place up Milcreek Canyon called Log Haven. Their wedding is December 27th, so it was completely befitting that their engagement portraits were done on a cold, wet day like today! There was snow on the ground and leaves changing colors, and this couple's personalities just lit up the atmosphere! I cannot wait for their beautiful wedding!

Elemental Elegance

Allyson Draper modeled an editorial-style "Super Model Package" portfolio session at the Bonneville Salt Flats. She hired Ashley Watkins for hair and makeup, which was an excellent choice! Ashley has tons of experience in the industry and shares my frustration with the "commercial" style of Utah, and was really excited to get back to her roots in the more edgy fashion world. Allyson is a "new face" but really took it to the next level, meeting with me a few times over the course of about three weeks to get consult on wardrobe, style and the overall look and feeling for the shoot.

When the photoshoot date arrived, Allyson, Ashley and Brennon, my assistant, were all set for the strenuous project ahead. I'm a super-organized project manager, right down to how you should be "feeling" for the shoot to come off. The model's job is to act, essentially, and play a part. Everything comes from the inside out, as opposite as that might seem for "models". Yes, she has to maintain a graceful and near-perfect figure, but that means nothing if you can't feel what the photographer needs you to; the intensity of the imagery can be completely blown without the right "attitude" preparation from the crew!

Thankfully, we had so many meetings and discussions about the look, the ultimate styling and the overall theme that we had 150 "good" shots, and 50 "great" shots... and no "trash" shots!

After doing some studying, I decided to take these shots like I would headshots for an actor or actress. The result is sharp, dramatic imagery that the couple adored!

Coordinating this wedding was interesting! The bride is from Texas, the groom from Idaho, and the grooms family in Washington. Some of their extended family and friends live here in Utah, but overall everything was done via phone, mail and email!

I met the bride for the first time at her bridal portrait session at the Great Salt Lake, and didn't meet the groom until the happy couple had stepped out from their temple ceremony! To finally see the two personalities blended in this wonderful union was an exciting moment, which was so perfectly captured.
